Intensive Youth Training Project in Austin TX Cluster June 2003
The Five Year Plan, which will undoubtedly be the focus of your consultations over the next few days, requires concentrated and sustained attention to two essential movements. The first is the steady flow of believers through the sequence of courses offered by training institutes, for the purpose of developing the human resources of the Cause. The second, which receives its impetus from the first, is the movement of geographic clusters from one stage of growth to the next. That Bahá'í youth must be intensely involved in both of these—indeed, that they must be a driving force behind them—goes without saying. We urge you, then, to cast your deliberations in the framework of these two pressing requirements. Ask yourselves how, as individuals, as members of your local and national communities, and as the vanguard of an entire generation in your region, you can ensure that the advancement in the process of entry by troops, called for by the Five Year Plan, is achieved in each of your countries.
Universal House of Justice, letter dated 22 December 2001
Purpose and Scope of Project
To raise up more youth who can serve the Faith as teachers of the Faith and tutors of study circles. The Austin cluster is making youth a high priority and realizes that the institute process can bring welcomed results. With the growing understanding of the value of the institute process in Texas, this is an opportunity to study and practice what is learned. The project will have three elements:
- Training in Ruhi Book 2: Arising to Serve, Book 6: Teaching the Cause and Book 7: Walking Together on a Path of Service
- Service will focus on preparing and hosting devotional meetings open to the community at large, deepening new believers and other youth in the area, teaching the Faith to youth, and study circles.
- Ownership by the youth themselves through a deeper understanding of the guidance from the Universal House of Justice and a firmer establishment of their Bahá'í identities through learning and service.
As Austin is a quickly advancing cluster, the support from the Auxiliary Board members will be strong. The target population are youth 15 years and older, primarily from TX. The Southern Regional Youth Team is assisting in planning and facilitating this training.
The training will be in Pflugerville TX six days a week, approximately 12 hours each day. There will be two youth trainers and one or two adult trainers during the whole month from May 31 and ending June 29.
